Analysis and Clarification:On Kohei Saito's Misinterpretation of Engels's Concept of"Nature's Retaliation"

Abstract
Engels's concept of"nature's retaliation"is an important component of Marxist ecological theory,offering a profound explanation of the dialectical relationship between humanity and nature.The Japanese scholar Kohei Saito argues that Engels's concept of"nature's retaliation"is a revision of Marx's theory of metabolic exchange,endowing it with an apocalyptic tone.In doing so,he misinterprets the logical relationship between the domination of nature and the realization of the realm of freedom,and misconstrues the internal unity between Engels's idea of"nature's retaliation"and Marx's thought,as well as its theoretical essence and the logic of its realization.As a result,the core meaning and theoretical positioning of Engels's concept of"nature's retaliation"are obscured.By critically examining the theoretical and methodological limitations in Saito's interpretation,the original form of Engels's"natural retaliation"thought can be restored,which is conducive to defending the integrity and scientific character of Marxist ecological theory and highlights the powerful vitality of Marxist theory in explaining reality and guiding practice.关键词
