Research Progress on the Physiological and Biochemical Mechanisms and Improvement Strategies of Vegetable Waterlogging Stress

Abstract
Waterlogging stress directly inhibits root growth and development,interferes with the transport and distribution of nutrients in the aboveground parts by causing rhizosphere soil anoxia,and ultimately significantly affects plant growth,reduces yield and deteriorates quality.This paper systematically reviews the specific hazards of waterlogging stress on vegetable production,and elaborates on the key mechanisms of vegetable responses to waterlogging stress from two core aspects:morphological and structural adaptation(such as adventitious root formation and aerenchyma development)and physiological and metabolic regulations(including energy metabolism,substance assimilation,redox balance and hormone signal regulation).In addition,this paper summarizes the core strategies for improving waterlogging tolerance of vegetables at present,including conventional breeding,molecular marker-assisted breeding and waterlogging-tolerant genetic engineering,and prospects the future research directions in the field of vegetable waterlogging tolerance.It provides a solid theoretical support and scientific basis for the breeding of waterlogging-tolerant vegetable varieties,and has important practical significance and application value for ensuring the stable development of the vegetable industry.关键词
