Comprehensive evaluation of production performance of different alfalfa varieties

Abstract
This study aimed to screen suitable alfalfa varieties for local promotion and cultivation in the Jinta area.A randomized block field experiment design was employed to analyze the agronomic traits,production performance,and nutritional quality of eight introduced alfalfa varieties,and a comprehensive evaluation was conducted using the grey relational degree analysis method.The results showed that the emergence number of Jingxi and WL358 was significantly higher than that of Algonguin,Gannong No.3,Zhongmu No.1,and Bara 420YQ(P<0.05).Jingxi exhibited the highest plant height,while WL358 had the most leaves.The leaf-to-stem ratio of Jingxi was significantly higher than that of other tested varieties(P<0.05).The fresh forage yield and hay yield of Bara 420YQ,Algonguin,and Jingxi were significantly higher than those of other tested varieties(P<0.05).The dry-to-fresh ratio of Bara 420YQ was significantly higher than that of other tested varieties(P<0.05).The crude protein(CP)yield of Jingxi was significantly higher than that of other tested varieties(P<0.05).The CP content and relative feed value(RFV)of Jingxi and Zhongmu No.1 were significantly higher than those of other tested varieties(P<0.05).The grey relational degree analysis indicated that Jingxi had the best comprehensive performance,followed by WL363.The study shows that Jingxi and WL363 possess better comprehensive characteristics and can be recommended as suitable alfalfa varieties for promotion and cultivation in the Jinta area.关键词
