YAN Xiaoping's'Hehe'Theory of Bi-Syndrome Therapy for Treating Sjögren's Syndrome

Abstract
Sjögren's syndrome(Zao Bi)is a chronic,systemic autoimmune disease.It frequently affects exocrine glands,leading to symptoms such as dry mouth and dry eyes,and readily involves other systems.Nationally renowned TCM physician Professor YAN Xiaoping,based on years of clinical practice and theoretical research,proposes the'Hehe'theory for treating Bi syndrome.This approach centers on harmonizing yin and yang,regulating the zang-fu organs,and balancing qi and blood.Prof.Yan identifies the pathogenesis of dryness impediment(Zao-bi)as yin deficiency constituting the root and dryness-heat manifesting as the branch.Deficiency of yin in the five zang organs leads to depletion of the five fluids and impeded circulation of qi and blood.During treatment,Prof.Yan emphasizes stratified treatment,flexibly employing methods according to the stage of the disease pattern.These methods include warming and supplementing kidney yang,nourishing kidney yin,dual supplementa-tion of kidney yin and yang,and protecting the affected zang-fu organs.Activating blood circulation and freeing the collaterals is consistently integrated throughout the treatment process,while also eliminating pathogenic factors and supporting healthy qi.The ultimate therapeutic goal is to achieve the effect of'balanced yin and yang'(yin ping yang mi).关键词
