Digital empowerment for rural revitalization and urban-rural integration:a perspective from digital village construction

Abstract
Amid the rapid development of the digital economy and the implementation of China's rural revitalization strategy,digital village construction has emerged as a critical impetus for pro-moting urban-rural integration.Drawing on panel data from 31 provinces(excluding Hong Kong,Macao,Taiwan)between 2011 and 2022,this study employs fixed-effects and spatial econometric models to examine the impact and underlying mechanisms for digital village construction on ur-ban-rural integration,while also investigating cross-regional spillover effects and heterogeneity in different levels of rural revitalization.The results show that digital village construction signifi-cantly fosters urban-rural integration through three channels—digital economy policy attention,digital inclusive finance,and public environmental awareness.Moreover,digital village construc-tion exerts notable spillover effects on adjacent regions,with its empowering role becoming more pronounced alongside higher levels of rural revitalization.This study provides new empirical evi-dence and insights into how digital village construction can drive urban-rural integration in theory and practice.关键词
