A broadband Rectifying Metasurface for wireless power transfer and ambient energy harvesting

Abstract
A novel single-layer dual-polarized broadband compact Rectifying Metasurface(RMS)is proposed for microwave wireless power transmission or ambient energy harvesting.The design consists of a 5×5 unit cell array,where each unit cell adopts a multi-resonant structure directly connected to rectifying diodes without requiring a matching network,thereby achieving broadband and highly efficient energy collection and rectification.Simulation results demonstrate that the Metasurface(MS)can achieve an energy harvesting efficiency exceeding 80%over the frequency band of 2.82~4.37 GHz,with angular stability greater than 45°.When the input power is controlled at 0 dBm,the proposed RMS achieves a maximum total Radio Frequency-to-Direct Current(RF-to-DC)conversion efficiency of up to 53%within this frequency band.Experimental measurements validate that the fabricated RMS maintains a total RF-DC efficiency greater than 34%across the 2.75~4.0 GHz band,with a peak efficiency of 45%at a power density of 0.78 mW/cm2,confirming the effectiveness of the proposed design methodology.关键词
