Abstract
The development of coatings with high-efficiency antibacterial functionality is of critical importance for safeguarding public health and ensuring human well-being.In this study,kaolin/copper composites were successfully synthesized via a one-pot ball-milling approach.The structural features,phase composition,and elemental distribution of the composites were systematically characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS).Antibacterial tests revealed that the kaolin/copper composites exhibited an antibacterial rate exceeding 99.9%against both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli,complying with the National Class 1 Antibacterial Standard.On this basis,a novel kaolin-based antibacterial coating was developed by optimizing the formulation comprising kaolin/copper composites,elastic emulsion,pigments,fillers,and various additives including thickeners and stabilizers.Physicochemical performance evaluations indicated that the incorporation of the composite did not significantly compromise the coating's fundamental properties.Furthermore,the zone of inhibition test demonstrated clear inhibitory zones of 5.2 mm and 4.6 mm against E.coli and S.aureus,respectively,confirming the coating's remarkable broad-spectrum antibacterial activity.This study provides a new strategy and practical foundation for the development of high-performance kaolin-based antibacterial coatings.关键词
