Impact of public and private agricultural technical services on farmers' adoption of soil testing formula and fertilization technology

Abstract
Based on the survey data of 868 rice growers in Hubei,Heilongjiang and Guangxi provinces,this study analyzes the impact of public and private agricultural technology services on farmers' adoption of soil testing and formula fertilization technology,as well as the role of information completeness in this process.The study found that:Firstly,compared with public agricultural technology services,private agricultural technology services have become a new driving force for farmers to adopt soil testing and formula fertilization technology,and there is a complementary relationship between the two.Secondly,public and private agricultural technology services significantly promote farmers' adoption of soil testing and formula fertilization technology,and this conclusion is still valid even after solving the endogeneity problem.Thirdly,the analysis shows that there is a significant promoting effect between public and private agricultural technical services and farmers' adoption of soil testing and formula fertilization technology.Mechanism analysis reveals that the collaborative extension helps farmers adopt soil testing and formula fertilization technology by improving information completeness.Therefore,it is crucial to improve the public and private agricultural technology service system,increase farmers' information completeness on soil testing and formula fertilization technology,and strengthen cooperation between public agricultural technology service departments and agricultural supply stores to promote and apply testing soil and formula fertilization technology.关键词
