Abstract
Expert Consensus on the Practice of Narrative Medicine in China's Hospitals(2025)was jointly formulated by the Narrative Medicine Branch of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association and the Medical Consortium Working Committee of the Chinese Hospital Association. Its primary purpose is to provide systematic guidance for hospitals to carry out narrative medicine practices and promote the implementation of humanistic care in medicine. To develop this consensus, methods including interview surveys,a modified Delphi method, and consensus-building conferences were adopted, resulting in the finalization of 16 recommended opinions. These recommendations cover four key dimensions:philosophical values, organizational guarantees, practical application, and evaluation methods. The consensus emphasizes that narrative medicine serves as the core tool for translating humanistic medicine into practice. It can enhance doctor-patient empathy, improve staff professional identity, and elevate hospital brand image.Furthermore,it proposes safeguard mechanisms such as top leadership taking overall responsibility, dedicated fund support, and the integration of narrative medicine into performance assessment systems. It also advocates for embedding narrative elements—including attention, reflection, and empathy—into the entire workflow of hospitals, encompassing clinical diagnosis and treatment, service optimization, infrastructure development, digital transformation, hospital management, and cultural construction. This integration aims to build a comprehensive humanistic ecosystem within healthcare institutions.Additionally,a multi-dimensional evaluation system is established, which monitors indicators such as patient and staff satisfaction, narrative competence, and the rate of complaints and disputes. In conclusion, this consensus provides a replicable, assessable, and sustainable roadmap for the high-quality development of public hospitals and the effective implementation of humanistic care in medicine.关键词
