Abstract
Objective To comprehensively analyze the disease burden of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)in the older population of China and globally.Methods Using data from the 2023 version of the Global Burden of Disease(GBD)database,the disease burden of COPD in China and globally for the years 1990 and 2023 was analyzed.Additionally,the disease burden and trend variations in older populations based on age and sex subgroups.Results The results showed that from 1990 to 2023,both China and the global population had an increasing trend in the incidence,prevalence,mortality,and disability-adjusted life years(DALYs)of COPD.However,the age-standardized incidence rate(ASIR),age-standardized prevalence rate(ASPR),age-standardized mortality rate(ASMR),and age-standardized DALY rate(ASDR)of COPD decreased in both China and globally.Age subgroup analysis revealed a significant increase in the disease burden of COPD with advancing age,both in China and globally.Gender subgroup analysis demonstrated that the disease burden of COPD was slightly higher in males than in females.However,from 1990 to 2023,the disease burden in older women gradually increased and the gap between the disease burden in older males and females narrowed.Conclusions The burden of COPD among the older population in China and globally exhibits significant variation across overall trends,age groups,and genders.Improvements in lifestyle,living conditions,and the formulation of public health policies are of paramount importance in addressing this issue and altering the current trajectory.关键词
