Current situation and suggestions on the protection and development of Youzhou dark goat germplasm resources

Abstract
Youzhou dark goat is a unique local goat breed in Youyang County,Chongqing Municipality.It has unique genetic and economic value due to its characteristics such as all-white coat,black visible mucous membranes like skin,and dual use for meat and medicine.This paper systematically reviews the current status of germplasm resource conservation and utilization of Youzhou dark goats,identifying core issues including fragile conservation foundations,underutilization of resources,and inadequate scientific and talent support systems.Based on this,targeted suggestions are put forward,such as strengthening top-level design and policy guarantee,and intensifying research on core breeding technologies and developing distinctive breed brands,aiming to provide decision-making references for the sustainable protection and scientific utilization of Youzhou dark goat resources.关键词
