Correlation Between Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio and Lymphocyte Subsets in Peripheral Blood of Patients with Myelodysplastic Syndrome

Abstract
Objective To investigate the correlation between the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and lymphocyte subsets in the peripheral blood of patients with myelodysplastic syndrome(MDS).Methods Fifty patients with MDS who were treated at Jingmen Central Hospital from May 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the observation group,and 50 healthy individuals were selected as the control group.Peripheral blood neutrophil count,lymphocyte count,and routine blood parameters were measured in all study subjects using morning blood samples,and the NLR was calculated.The levels of CD3+,CD4+,and CD8+cells were detected,and the CD4+/CD8+ratio was calculated.A multivariate logistic regression model was used to identify independent factors influencing the occurrence of MDS.Pearson correlation analysis was performed to analyze the correlations between NLR and CD3+,CD4+,CD8+,and CD4+/CD8+levels.Results The white blood cell count,red blood cell count,hemoglobin level,platelet count,and neutrophil count in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group,while the mean corpuscular volume,red blood cell distribution width,and platelet distribution width were significantly higher than those in the control group(all P<0.05).The NLR level in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The levels of CD3+,CD4+,and CD4+/CD8+were significantly lower,and the CD8+level was significantly higher in the observation group compared with the control group(all P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that CD3+,CD4+,and CD4+/CD8+were negatively correlated with NLR in MDS patients(P<0.05),while CD8+was positively correlated with NLR(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that elevated NLR and CD8+levels were independent risk factors for MDS,whereas elevated CD3+,CD4+,and CD4+/CD8+levels were independent protective factors(P<0.05).Conclusion There is a significant correlation between peripheral blood NLR and lymphocyte subsets in MDS patients.Regulating the abnormal changes in these indicators not only helps improve immune dysfunction and inflammatory progression in patients but also provides important reference value for prognostic assessment and clinical intervention of the disease.关键词
