The Impact of Peer Support Combined with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on the Treatment of Adolescent Malocclusion

Abstract
Objective:To explore the impact of peer support combined with cognitive behavioral therapy on the treatment of adolescent malocclusion.Method:Ninety patients with Angle Class Ⅰ and Ⅱ malocclusion who were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Changsha Medical University from September 2023 to December 2024 were selected as the research subjects and divided into group A(45 cases)and group B(45 cases)using a random number table method.Group A received routine nursing care,while group B received peer support combined with cognitive behavioral therapy.The two groups were compared in terms of self-efficacy,coping styles,psychological status,and oral health-related quality of life.Result:Statistical analysis showed that the scores for Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS),and all dimensions of oral health-related quality of life in group B were lower than those in group A,while the self-efficacy score was higher than that in group A,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion:The intervention program of peer support combined with cognitive behavioral therapy for adolescents with Angle Class Ⅰ and Class Ⅱ malocclusion can effectively alleviate anxiety,enhance self-efficacy,improve coping styles,and increase oral health-related quality of life.关键词
