Chief Physician SUN Xuequan's experience in acupoint selection at reaction points

Abstract
Acupoint selection at reaction points is an important diagnostic and therapeutic method in acupuncture and moxibustion clinical practice.Based on its mechanism of action,it falls under the categories of"Ashi points(阿是穴)"and"corresponding pain points"in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).Currently,conventional fixed acupoint acupuncture can treat various diseases,but it often exhibits"broad-spectrum regulation".For local lesions,acute pain,or intractable conditions,there may be issues with"long acting pathways and slow onset".As specific reaction sites manifested on the body surface under pathological conditions,reaction points exhibit diverse forms,including tenderness,nodules,and changes in skin color,and are closely related to meridians and organs,forming a"diagnosis-treatment"closed loop to enhance the precision of syndrome differentiation.Chief Physician SUN Xuequan has been engaged in acupuncture and moxibustion clinical practice for over 60 years,accumulating rich experience in acupoint selection at reaction points and developing a unique clinical approach.Chief Physician SUN Xuequan believes that the formation of reaction points is rooted in meridian stagnation and Qi(气)-blood imbalance;the disharmony between organs and the correspondence between the internal and external environments are the key;and the interaction between pathogenic and healthy forces,coupled with signal manifestation,leads to changes.In clinical practice,Chief Physician SUN Xuequan adheres strictly to the pathogeneses,adopts a"dual-target combination",and skillfully utilizes reaction points in conjunction with traditional acupoints for disease treatment.Firstly,Chief Physician SUN Xuequan precisely locates reaction points through meridian tracing,holographic correspondence positioning,and neural innervation area examination.Then,based on syndrome differentiation,Chief Physician SUN Xuequan selects appropriate interventions such as acupuncture,needle embedding,cupping,and pricking blood therapy.Additionally,Chief Physician SUN Xuequan combines comprehensive treatments such as needle-pricking,scraping,and acupotomy therapy to enhance efficacy and consolidate the foundation.In clinical practice,it is necessary to strictly adhere to the principles of acupoint selection,ensuring accurate positioning,appropriate treatment modalities,and stable manipulation techniques,ultimately achieving the immediate and remarkable therapeutic effects as a drum responding to a drumstick.The article summarizes Chief Physician SUN Xuequan's experience in using acupoint selection at reaction points for disease treatment,providing a reference for acupuncture and moxibustion clinical diagnosis and treatment.One validated case is attached.关键词
