Medication Rules of Representative Physicians of the Xujiang School in Treating Digestive System Diseases and Their Implications for the Treatment of Modern Digestive System Tumors

Abstract
Objective To explore the medication rules and academic thoughts of representative physicians of the Xujiang school in treating digestive system diseases,and to explore their implications for the treatment of modern digestive system tumors,so as to provide references for clinical diagnosis and treatment.Methods The medical works of eight representative physicians of the Xujiang school were taken as the research objects,and prescriptions for conditions highly relevant to digestive system tumors were extracted.Excel and SPSS software were applied for statistical analysis of medication frequency,nature,flavor,and meridian tropism of the included herbs.Core medication combinations were mined via association rules and cluster analysis,and the implications of their syndrome differentiation and treatment thoughts on modern tumor therapy were extracted.Results A total of 250 prescriptions were included,involving 289 Chinese medicinal herbs with a total medication frequency of 2 650 times.There were 35 high-frequency herbs(frequency≥20),including Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma,Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium,Angelicae Sinensis Radix,etc.The medicinal natures were mainly warm and neutral;the flavors were predominantly pungent,bitter,and sweet;the meridian tropisms mainly focused on spleen,stomach,liver,and lung meridian.The main efficacy categories were deficiency-tonifying herbs,qi-regulating herbs,and blood-activating and stasis-resolving herbs.Association rule analysis showed that the strongest two-herb combination was Angelicae Sinensis Radix-Chuanxiong Rhizoma,and the strongest three-herb combination was Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium-Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma-Poria.Six groups of core medication combinations were obtained by cluster analysis.In terms of academic thoughts,the Xujiang physicians believed that the core pathogenesis of such diseases was impairment of spleen and stomach,disorder of qi movement,and accumulation of phlegm,blood stasis,and toxin,induced by improper diet,invasion of exogenous pathogens,emotional internal injury,deficiency of vital qi,and stagnation of blood stasis and toxin.A distinctive diagnosis and treatment system has been formed with spleen and stomach protection as the core,regional constitution as the basis,pulse examination and syndrome differentiation as the pivotal approach,utilizing multiple methods in combination,and integrating Confucianism,Buddhism,and Taoism.The implications for the diagnosis and treatment of modern digestive system tumors lie in the emphasis on regulating spleen and stomach,strengthening vital qi to eliminate pathogenic factors,using warm and neutral medication as the basis,and combining pungent dispersing and bitter descending while regulating both qi and blood.Conclusion The academic experience of the Xujiang physicians in treating digestive system related syndromes has guiding value for the prevention and treatment of modern tumors,and their medication rules can provide references for clinical syndrome differentiation and treatment of digestive system tumors.关键词
