Advances in Mechanisms of Physiological Changes in Chinese Alligator(Alligator sinensis)During Hibernation

Abstract
The Chinese alligator(Alligator sinensis)exhibits hibernation behavior,and the quality of its hibernation significantly affects reproductive capacity,making it crucial for population conservation.In recent years,research has focused on the physiological adaptation mechanisms of the Chinese alligator during hibernation,primarily including metabolic regulation,gut microbiome adjustment,and epigenetic regulation.During hibernation,the Chinese alligator achieves coordination between metabolism and endocrine function by modulating hematological parameters and hormone levels,including ghrelin,growth axis-related genes,and thyroid hormones.Meanwhile,epigenetic modifications such as promoter DNA methylation and RNA methylation(e.g.,m6A)participate in regulating the expression of key genes,potentially influencing oocyte maturation and the stability of mRNA associated with oogenesis.Adjustments in the gut microbiome facilitate adaptation to fasting states and enhance the utilization efficiency of proteins stored prior to hibernation.This paper systematically reviewed the mechanisms underlying physiological changes in the Chinese alligator during hibernation,aiming to integrate existing research findings and provide scientific basis for its population conservation.关键词
