Based on the Concept of"Liver and Kidney Sharing the Same Origin,"this Study Explores the Role of Liver Factors in Diabetic Retinopathy Complicated with Nephropathy

Abstract
Diabetic retinopathy(DR)and diabetic nephropathy are the two most common microvascular complica-tions of diabetes,severely impacting patients'quality of life and increasing the risk of death.Epidemiological studies have revealed that these two conditions can co-occur,exhibiting certain correlations in pathological mechanisms and treatment.This comorbidity may be closely related to common mechanisms such as long-term hyperglycemia,oxidative stress,inflammatory responses,and vascular endothelial dysfunction.In recent years,hepatokines,as a class of active substances secreted by the liver,have attracted considerable attention due to their crucial roles in regulating glucose and lipid metabolism,inflammatory responses,and vascular function.This article will discuss the pathogenesis of DR combined with nephropathy and explore the relationship between hepatokines and the disease from the perspective of the traditional Chinese medicine theory of"liver and kidney sharing the same origin."This will not only help eluci-date the comorbidity mechanism of the two complications but may also provide a theoretical basis for developing novel therapeutic strategies targeting hepatokines.This research direction is expected to provide new ideas and strategies for the prevention and treatment of diabetic microvascular complications.关键词
