Exploration of Cibotii Rhizoma as a Single Herb in the Treatment of Ankylosing Spondylitis with Kidney Deficiency and Cold in the Governor Vessel Pattern

Abstract
As a core single herb in the diagnosis and treatment of bi syndrome by Xin'an medical practitioners,Cibotii Rhizoma possesses distinctive therapeutic experience,particularly for ankylosing spondylitis(AS)with kidney deficiency and cold in the governor vessel syndrome.Its application spans the entire developmental history of Xin'an medicine.Based on classical medical texts of Xin'an medicine,this article systematically examines the syndrome dif-ferentiation principles,compatibility patterns,and clinical indications of Cibotii Rhizoma as documented by physi-cians such as Wang Ji,Sun Yikui,and Cheng Xingxuan.It traces the historical explanations and recorded applications of its efficacy in"tonifying the liver and kidney,strengthening tendons and bones,dispelling wind-dampness,and fa-cilitating joint movement"in Xin'an medical literature.Furthermore,integrating modern pharmacological,molecular biological,and clinical research findings,this study analyzes the mechanisms of action of key bioactive components in Cibotii Rhizoma—such as phenolic acids,polysaccharides,and flavonoids—validating its scientific basis in im-proving joint function in AS patients,regulating the Th17/IL-17 inflammatory pathway,and inhibiting bone destruc-tion.The modern applicability of Cibotii Rhizoma in treating AS with kidney deficiency and cold in the governor vessel syndrome is also explored.Through corroboration between classical records and contemporary research,this study elucidates the academic distinctiveness and contemporary 传承 value of Xin'an medical practitioners'use of Cibotii Rhizoma for AS,providing theoretical and practical references for the precise clinical application of Cibotii Rhizoma and the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine in treating rheumatic and immune diseases.关键词
