Abstract

To investigate the differences in the response of plant transpiration to environmental factors under varying soil moisture conditions,this study focused on a Zanthoxylum bungeanum forest in the Huajiang Gorge,Guanling County,Anshun City,Guizhou Province.By conducting in-situ monitoring of sap flow,local meteorological factors,and soil water content,the study analyzed the differences in the response of Z.bungeanum sap flow to environmental factors during three periods:the dry seasons of 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 and the rainy season of 2024.The results showed that during these three periods,soil moisture conditions exhibited differences corresponding to the hydrological conditions at the time,and Z.bungeanum demonstrated differences in sap flow during these periods(P<0.05).Under different soil moisture conditions,the driving effects of environmental factors on Z.bungeanum sap flow varied markedly.During the rainy season of 2024,sap flow was primarily regulated by the combined effects of vapor pressure deficit,air temperature,and photosynthetically active radiation.During the dry season of 2023-2024,sap flow remained predominantly influenced by meteorological factors.In the dry season of 2024-2025,soil water content became the main driving factor affecting sap flow,followed by vapor pressure deficit and air temperature.These findings indicate that plants exhibit unique adaptive strategies when facing varying degrees of water stress.Furthermore,when soil water content dropped to 14.45%,the sap flow of Z.bungeanum exhibited a threshold effect.
