Abstract
In January 2024,General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed the concept of"financial culture with Chinese characteristics",summarizing it into five practical requirements,known as the"Five Musts and Five Don'ts":"must be honest and trustworthy and don't cross the bottom line;must seek profit through righteousness and don't put profit above everything;must be prudent and steady and don't seek quick success;must adhere to funda-mental principles while innovating and don't deviate from the real economy;must comply with laws and regulations and don't act recklessly".The fi-nancial culture with Chinese characteristics represented by the"Five Musts and Five Don'ts"has gone through the sedimentation of more than 5 000 years of Chinese history,and has been tested by case studies from various dynasties in China.It establishes and confronts a Chinese perspective on fi-nancial culture,breaking free from the long-standing perspective of looking up to and following the West,and achieving the integration of"drawing on ancient wisdom and utilizing foreign expertise".This paper attempts to trace the theoretical origins of financial culture with Chinese characteristics and systematically examines its essence,heritage,logic,and implementation pathways.Guided by the principle of"integrating the universal truths of Marx-ism with China's specific realities and fine traditional culture",the paper also explores the"contradictions and paradoxes"in Chinese excellent tradi-tional culture,such as the"yin-yang perspective","theory of contradiction","dialectical view",and"paradoxes".It discusses five pairs of parado-xes based on belief,purpose,speed,object,and words and deeds:"adherence versus transgression","righteousness versus profit","stability versus haste","reality versus illusiveness",and"compliance versus non-compliance".A model of major contradictions and paradoxes inherent in the"Five Musts and Five Don'ts"of the financial culture with Chinese characteristics is constructed.This endeavor aims to enhance understanding of the theoret-ical essence,contradictory methodologies,and dialectical unity embodied in the"Five Musts and Five Don'ts"of the financial culture with Chinese characteristics,strengthen China's cultural soft power,and expedite the realization of becoming a financial and cultural powerhouse.关键词
