Abstract

Vocational education research shoulders a fundamental mission of providing evidence for policymaking,supporting reform trials,and promoting quality enhancement.However,in practice,there persists a structural mismatch between the supply of research outputs and the demand for high-quality knowledge.Taking the 2025 issue of Replicated Journal Resources:Vocational and Technical Education as the study sample,this paper employs an integrated approach combining bibliometric analysis and content analysis to depict the overall profile of China's vocational education research.The findings indicate that a relatively homogeneous knowledge-production community constrains the reciprocal validation cycle between research and practice;the dominance of macro-level narratives crowds out micro-level mechanism studies,resulting in explanatory gaps in key links;in the digital-intelligence era,relatively rigid methodological pathways restrict fine-grained analysis of problems;the insufficient capacity for international scholarly dialogue impedes the articulation of China's experience in communicable academic discourse;and the shortened chains of dissemination and translation diminish the outward spillover of research influence.In the future,cross-boundary scholarly communities must be institutionalized to repair fractures among government,industry,academia,and research sectors;authentic problem domains must be established as the first principle of topic selection to balance macro strategies with micro mechanisms;evidence-based research paradigms must be systematically scaled to strengthen scientific rigor and explanatory power;international dialogue capacities must be proactively developed to build an integrative discourse bridging Chinese and global scholarship;and disciplinary cross-fertilization should advance in tandem with cross-audience dissemination to enhance the academic discursive power of vocational education.The outlined strategies aim to provide a structured approach for the capacity upgrading and structural optimization of vocational education research during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
