A review of plasma treatment applications for medical fibers

Abstract
Plasma treatment is an efficient and environmentally friendly surface modification technology,demon-strating significant advantages in the functional finishing of medical fibers.The methods such as plasma physical etching,chemical modification,polymerization,induced graft polymerization,and enhanced chemical vapor deposition can alter the chemical composition and microscopic morphology of fiber surfaces,effectively addressing issues such as low surface ener-gy and strong chemical inertness in medical fibers,thereby improving their performance.This paper reviews recent re-search advances in plasma technology applied to the functionalization of medical fibers,analyzes its mechanisms of action,and elaborates on its applications in modifying pure cotton fibers,polyester fibers,polypropylene fibers,polytetrafluoroethyl-ene fibers,and other medical fibers.It summarizes the effects of plasma treatment on key properties such as surface hydro-philicity,antibacterial performance,and biocompatibility of materials,and provides an overview of plasma sources,working atmospheres,and processing conditions.Finally,the application prospects of plasma technology in the functional treatment of medical fibers are prospected.关键词
