Abstract

Colored rice is rich in nutrients,and red rice,as one type of colored rice,is highly favored for its abundant con-tents of anthocyanin,iron,and other substances.Jinggangshan red rice in Jiangxi has been continuously promoted due to its historical background and emotional value.However,traditional red rice is characterized by tall plant height with easy lodging,poor disease resistance,low yield,and relatively hard grain quality.To improve the aforementioned problems,and maintain the special market and characteristics of Jiangxi red rice,Ehu Hongmi,a high-quality single-season rice local resource in Jiangxi,was crossed with Guanghong 3,a temperature-sensitive red rice variety with high yield and blast resistance from Guangdong,for hybridization improvement.Through seven years of qualitative pedigree selection,Ganwanhong 6405,a new red rice variety with high quality,early maturity,dwarf culm,and blast resistance,was bred.The test results show that Gan-wanhong 6405 is rich in mineral elements,with an anthocyanin content of up to 62.3 mg·kg-1.This variety participated in the regional trials of the late-season early-maturity group of special rice in Jiangxi Province in 2025,and the application number for new plant variety rights is 20251005650.The breeding of the high-yielding,high-quality,and early-maturing red rice va-riety lays a solid foundation for the red inheritance of Jiangxi's"Red Army Grain".
