摘要

Abstract

Phoenix dactylifera L.(date palm)is an important economic crop in North Africa and the Middle East,with high economic,ornamental,cultural,and social value.However,the low reproductive efficiency of conventional seedling breeding methods and the lack of a stable genetic transformation system have limited the process of comprehensive development and utilization of date palm.This paper reviews three main propagation methods of date palm,namely,seed propagation,tiller seedling propagation,and tissue culture.It focuses on summarizing the research progress of date palm tissue culture from the aspects of explant selection,culture conditions,and growth regulators,analyzes the problems existing in the tissue culture process of date palm(such as explant browning,vitrification,microbial contamination,and unstable regeneration system),proposes corresponding solutions,and summarizes the research achievements in date palm genetic transformation.This review provides a reference for the large-scale production of date palm seedlings and basic research on molecular biology.
