Abstract

This study aimed to enhance the purification efficiency of odorous gases emitted during food waste pretreatment,industrial wastewater treatment,and site remediation,with focus on ammonia(NH3)and hydrogen sulfide(H2S)as key pollutants.Through enrichment culture,qualitative primary screening and quantitative secondary screening,a high-efficiency degrading strain,Pseudomonas guariconensis RTL-08(CGMCC No.30345),was isolated from the leachate-layer soil of a food waste treatment plant in Nanjing.Its deodorization performance was systematically investigated through stability test,laboratory deodorization efficiency verification,and industrial application evaluation,as well as the application in two typical biological deodorization processes(biological filter column and biofilter).As a result,strain RTL-08 exhibited strong environmental adaptability,with normal growth under the following conditions:temperature of 20-50 ℃,pH of 4-11,and sodium hypochlorite concentration of 0-5 mg/L.Notably,a maximum effective viable count of 1010 CFU/mL was achieved within 12 h when the strain was cultured at 30 ℃.Under laboratory conditions,the 24-hour removal rate for NH3 and the 48-hour removal rate for H2S reached 96.0%and 90.1%,respectively.In addition,RTL-08 demonstrated the capability of degrading low-concentration styrene,with an average removal rate of 46.3%.According to the industrial verification results,the average H2S removal rate was 83.1%for the strain treatment in the biological filter column.When food waste odors were treated in the biofilter,the average NH3 removal rate reached 89.3%,and the effluent concentrations of NH3,H2S,and styrene were all within the limits specified in the Emission Standard for Odor Pollutants(GB 14554-1993).Compared with laboratory conditions,the deodorization efficiency of the strain slightly decreased in industrial applications,primarily due to the shock load of high-concentration pollutants and interference from complex matrices.Overall,strain RTL-08 demonstrated high-efficiency degradation,rapid proliferation,and strong adaptability,thus providing an excellent bacterial resource for biological deodorization technology,as well as broad application prospects,particularly in the field of food waste odor treatment.
