The Divisive Policies of Trump's Second Administration Toward BRICS Cooperation:Motivations,Strategies,and Challenges

Abstract
After returning to the White House,Trump quickly established a foreign policy system of"America First 2.0".Compared with his first term,the division toward BRICS cooperation during his second term represents a new feature.The motivations behind this move are deeply rooted in the United States'strategic anxiety over power transition,the need to safeguard U.S.dollar hegemony,the attempt to consolidate geopolitical advantages,and the practical considerations of domestic political agendas.These intertwined motivations have collectively shaped the U.S.'s tough policy of dividing BRICS cooperation.In terms of strategic implementation,it presents a composite characteristic of"overall disintegration and differential division",taking the internal interest differences within BRICS as the entry point and employing wedge strategies to achieve precise divisive breakthroughs.However,this strategy faces multiple challenges;its effects may fall far short of expectations and could even become an external factor strengthening BRICS cooperation.Currently,the rise of the Global South has become an irreversible structural trend.As an important cooperation platform for Global South countries,the existence and development of the BRICS mechanism align with this trend,further enhancing its resilience.关键词
