Abstract

To address the issues of low detection sensitivity and poor positioning accuracy in tradi-tional frequency-modulated continuous wave(FMCW)cable defect location methods,a cross-cor-relation power spectrum(CCPS)-FMCW cable defect location method was proposed.First,the distributed parameter model of power cables and the characteristics of FMCW signals were de-scribed in detail.Then,the fundamental principle and specific implementation steps of the CCPS-FMCW cable defect location method were elaborated.The CCPS-FMCW method calculated the CCPS of the incident and reflected signals.The CCPS within a specific frequency bandwidth range was multiplied by the Hanning window and then used as the characteristic signal.Subsequently,the Fourier transform was performed to generate the cable defect diagnosis spectrum.Finally,a 500 m simulation cable defect location platform and a 400 m real cable defect location platform were established.The experimental results demonstrate that the CCPS-FMCW method can effec-tively detect and accurately locate defects in distribution network power cables,achieving a rela-tive positioning error of less than 0.73%.This verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the pro-posed method.Compared with traditional approaches,the CCPS-FMCW method exhibits superior performance in detecting defects over long distances.
