Abstract

This paper takes the production design of A Writer's Odyssey 2 as a case study to explore how Chinese fantasy genre film can transcend the aesthetic limitations inherited from the co-production era and respond to the dual demands of film industrialization and evolving esthetic view from audience.Through the construction of a comprehensive story world,the application of modern filmmaking technologies,and the adoption of a creative approach described as"credible XIEYI",the film develops a visual system that integrates eastern aesthetics with contemporary cinematic sensibilities.The findings suggest that this practice demonstrates the feasibility of expressing the cultural depth of traditional eastern aesthetics through modern film production,offering both theoretical grounding and practical reference for Chinese fantasy filmmakers seeking to overcome creative bottlenecks and forge a distinctly eastern visual aesthetic.
