A Study of the Genesis of a Bauxite Deposit in Yunnan

Abstract
To clarify the metallogenic mechanism,sources of ore-forming materials,and sedimentary environment of a bauxite deposit in Yunnan,a systematic analysis was conducted on its geological setting,characteristics of the mining area,and metallogenic environment.The results indicate that the bauxite deposit in Yunnan Province is characterized by medium iron,medium silicon and high aluminum contents.Its trace elements are dominated by Li2O,Ga,Se,Zr and Hf,and the deposit formed in a lagoon sedimentary environment.The ore-forming materials were sourced from Late Devonian carbonate rocks that experienced prolonged weathering to produce clay enriched in Al,Fe,Ti,Ga,K and other elements.The deposit has undergone weathering-leaching,compaction and deformation stages,which provides a theoretical basis for bauxite exploration in the region.关键词
