Longitudinal Associations Between Adverse Childhood Experiences and Social Media Addiction Among Adolescents:A Chain Mediation Model Involving Sense of Control and Belief in a Just World

Abstract
Objective:To examine the longitudinalrelationship between adverse childhood experiences and social media addiction among adolescents,as well as the mediating roles of sense of control and belief in a just world.Methods:A two-wave questionnaire survey with a 7-month interval was conducted among 1,104 adolescents using the Adverse childhood ex-periences Scale,Sense of Control Scale,Belief in a Just World Scale,and Social Media Addiction Scale.Results:(1)T1 ad-verse childhood experiences significantly positively predicted T2 social media addiction;(2)T1 sense of control and T2 be-lief in a just world played individual mediating roles and a chain-mediated pathway between T1 adverse childhood experi-ences and T2 social media addiction.Conclusion:Adverse childhood experiences not only directly influence adolescent so-cial media addiction across time but also operate through the mediating pathways of sense of control,belief in a just world,and the chain mediation pathway of sense of control and belief in a just world.关键词
