Research on the impact of marine industrial structure upgradation on the high-quality development of China's coastal provincial economy

Abstract
Based on panel data from 2001 to 2022 of 11 coastal provinces(including autonomous regions and municipalities)in China(excluding Hong Kong,Macao,and Taiwan),this study constructs an index for the high-quality development of the provincial economy and further employs the fixed-effect model and mediation effect model to investigate the impact and mechanism of marine industrial structure upgradation on the high-quality development of the provincial economy.The baseline regression results indicate that marine industrial structure upgradation has a significant driving effect on the high-quality development of the provincial economy.Mediation analysis indicates that marine industrial structure upgradation can effectively empower the high-quality development of the provincial economy by improving transportation accessibility and promoting industrial agglomeration.Heterogeneity analysis shows that marine industrial structure upgradation has a positive effect on the high-quality development of the provincial economy in the coastal provinces with a large number of marine scientific research employees and the coastal areas south of the Yangtze River.To further promote high-quality provincial economic development,it is necessary to continue supporting the cultivation and growth of emerging industries,increase strategic investment in transportation infrastructure,and use this as a support to build industrial clusters and promote regional collaborative cooperation.关键词
