KANG Zefeng's Experience in Treating Recurrent Herpes Simplex Keratitis Based on the Theory of Latent Pathogens in External Eye Diseases

Abstract
Herpes simplex keratitis(HSK)is one of the most common blinding corneal diseases and is prone to recurrent episodes.It is the leading cause of corneal blindness in China.KANG Zefeng believes that the core pathogenesis of HSK recurrence and prolonged difficulty in healing lies in the deep-seated presence of Fuxie within the body,waiting for an opportunity to activate.Therefore,breaking away from the Traditional Chinese Medicine approach that mainly focuses on clearing heat and removing toxins for recurrent HSK,KANG Zefeng proposes the theory of latent pathogens in external eye diseases.He emphasizes the fundamental principle of supporting healthy energy to eliminate pathogenic factors,aiming to fundamentally eliminate latent pathogens by strengthening the body's healthy energy.As a result,the optimized Compound Qijin Tuiyi Granules was developed.This formula effectively regulates the patient's immune function,inhibits viral replication,significantly reduces the recurrence frequency of HSK,and alleviates the severity of episodes.Consequently,it effectively protects the cornea,reduces corneal scarring and the risk of blindness caused by recurrent episodes,and provides a theoretical basis and new therapeutic approach for the treatment of HSK.关键词
