Abstract

Hernandia nymphaeifolia is a traditional medicinal plant that thrives in high temperatures and humidity,tolerates saline-alkali conditions,and is commonly found in coastal forests.Its pharmacological activity is closely linked to its endophytic fungi.In this study,the stems of H.nymphaeifolia were collected from Yongxing Island,Sansha City,Hainan Province in the autumn of 2024.Endophytic fungi were isolated and cultured using PDA,MEA,and Martin as basal culture media,yielding a total of 125 culturable endophytic fungal strains.The identification of these strains was fa-cilitated by means of ITS sequence analysis,which revealed their affiliation to 44 species,28 genera,14 orders,6 classes and 2 phyla.Antimicrobial,antioxidant,and antitumor activities were screened using the filter paper disc diffusion method,DPPH assay,ABTS assay,and MTT assay,respectively.These screenings resulted in strain P46 that can in-hibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli,strain M4 with strong antioxidant activity,and strain D60 with potent antitumor cell activity.This study preliminarily investigated the diversity and pharmacological activities of cul-tivable endophytic fungi isolated from the bark of H.nymphaeifolia in Yongxing Island during autumn,which can provide a theoretical basis for the exploitation and utilization of fungal resources from H.nymphaeifolia.
