Abstract

This study investigated the dynamics of carbon fractions in sediments of the Yangtze River Estuary wetlands through laboratory incubation experiments under varying dissolved oxygen(8 mg·L-1 normoxic vs.2 mg·L-1 hypoxic)and temperature(23,25,and 27℃)conditions.The results showed that elevated temperature and higher oxygen availability promoted the mineralization of sediment organic carbon,leading to significant reductions in labile carbon pools,whereas low temperature and hypoxia suppressed carbon decomposition and markedly constrained the mineraliza-tion capacity of sediment organic carbon.The temperature sensitivity(Q10)of sediment respiration was substantially higher under normoxic conditions,indicating that aerobic environments amplify the responsiveness of organic carbon mineralization to temperature variations.The proportion of iron-bound organic carbon was significantly higher under hypoxic than normoxic conditions,highlighting the critical role of dissolved oxygen in regulating carbon stability.
