Expert consensus on the management of osteoporosis combined with common chronic diseases in older adults
摘要
Abstract
China has entered a super-aging society, and osteoporosis(OP),a highly prevalent condition among older adults,is frequently accompanied by other chronic diseases.Approximately 95%of patients with osteoporosis have at least one additional chronic condition. These comorbidities may exacerbate the progression of osteoporosis, increase the risk of osteoporotic fractures, and pose significant challenges for clinical management.Given the lack of standardized guidelines for the integrated management of osteoporosis with common chronic diseases,a multidisciplinary panel of experts developed the present consensus recommendations based on available evidence. This consensus focuses on the comorbidity management of osteoporosis with five major categories of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, digestive system diseases, inflammatory arthropathies, respiratory diseases, and malignancies. The recommen-dations address disease associations, shared risk factors, potential drug interactions, and comprehensive management strat-egies.Key recommendations include strengthening osteoporosis screening among high-risk populations, optimizing thera-peutic strategies by considering the bidirectional interactions between osteoporosis and comorbid chronic diseases, and im-plementing integrated management approaches that combine lifestyle modification, nutritional supplementation, and opti-mal control of underlying diseases. This consensus aims to provide practical guidance for healthcare professionals and to promote multidisciplinary collaborative management of osteoporosis in older adults with chronic comorbidities.关键词
