Research progress on the impact of small vulnerable newborn on accumulation of human capital in adolescence
摘要
Abstract
Objective To clarify the impact of small vulnerable newborns(SVN)on the accumulation of human capital in adolescence.Methods Through a literature review,we summarized the evidence of the associations between three phenotypes of SVN(preterm birth,small for gestational age infant,and low birth weight)and health status,cognitive ability,and non-cognitive ability in adolescence.Results SVN significantly affects physical development in adolescence,increases the risk of chronic diseases,impairs cognitive function,and raises the risk of psychological and behavioral problems.However,the research conclusions on the associations between different SVN phenotypes and outcomes such as overweight and obesity and non-cognitive ability are inconsistent.Conclusion SVN has complex and long-term effects on the accumulation of human capital in adolescence.Further research is needed to provide a basis for formulating targeted interventions and public health policies.关键词
