Impact of an evidence-based traditional Chinese medicine intervention model on postoperative pain and complications after surgery for mixed hemorrhoids

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of an evidence-based traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)inter-vention model on patients following surgery for mixed hemorrhoids,and its influence on wound healing.Methods Ninety-four patients who had undergone surgery for mixed hemorrhoids were randomized by random-number table into two equal groups(n=47 each).The control group received routine postoperative care,while the observation group received the same routine care plus an evidence-based TCM intervention model.Both groups received interventions for 2 weeks.Outcomes included wound-healing metrics(epithelialization time,slough/eschar detachment time,edema resolution time,and overall wound healing time),pain assessed by the visual analogue scale(VAS)at multiple postoperative time points,36-item Short Form Health Survey(SF-36)scores,complication rates,and patient satisfaction.Results Compared with the control group,the observation group demonstra-ted significantly faster wound healing,with shorter epithelialization time,slough/eschar detachment time,edema resolution time,and total wound healing time(P<0.05).Postoperative VAS scores at all measured time points were significantly lower in the ob-servation group than in the control group(P<0.05).The observation group experienced a lower incidence of complications than the control group(P<0.05).Both groups showed significant improvements in all SF-36 domains after intervention compared with baseline(P<0.05),and post-intervention SF-36 scores were higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).Patient satisfaction was 95.74%(45/47)in the observation group versus 74.47%(35/47)in the control group,with the observation group showing higher satisfaction(P<0.05).Conclusion Implementing an evidence-based TCM intervention model alongside routine care significantly reduces postoperative pain and complication rates,accelerates wound healing,enhances quality of life,and increases patient satisfaction in individuals after surgery for mixed hemorrhoids.关键词
