Mechanism of Srd regulating Drosophila sperm regeneration
摘要
Abstract
Using a Drosophila model,this study reveals that mutation of the srd gene leads to sperm regeneration disorder.The Srd protein is specifically expressed in the testis,its loss elevates reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels in the testis,impairing the motility of regenerating sperms and causing them to accumulate at the testicular distal end,thereby failing to migrate into the seminal vesicle.Administration of the antioxidant N-acetyl-L-cysteine(NAC)to scavenge ROS effectively ameliorates the sperm regeneration disorder in srd mutants.This study elucidates the mechanism by which Srd maintains sperm regeneration via regulating ROS homeostasis,providing a potential molecular target for understanding sperm regeneration disorder and the diagnosis and therapeutic intervention of male infertility.关键词
