Analysis of the Current Situation and Intervention Effects of Overweight and Obesity Among Primary School Students in Qingpu District of Shanghai

Abstract
Objective To explore the current situation and influencing factors of overweight and obesity among primary school students in Qingpu District of Shanghai,and evaluate the effectiveness of the school family linkage weight management model in obesity prevention and control,providing a basis for improving adolescent obesity prevention and control strategies.Methods From October 2023 to September 2024,a questionnaire survey and physical examination were conducted on 686 third grade students from two primary schools in Qingpu District to analyze the detection rate and risk factors of overweight and obesity,and intervention studies were conducted on the two primary schools.The intervention group implemented a one-year school family linkage weight management model on the basis of routine health care,while the control group received regular health education.The intervention effect was compared through physical examination and investigation of KAP.Results The overweight and obesity rate among students is 30.03%.Logistic regression analysis showed that parental overweight and obesity,lack of exercise,preference for fried or sweet foods,and insufficient sleep time were independent risk factors.The intervention results showed that after one year of intervention,the overweight and obesity rate in the intervention group significantly decreased from 29.63%to 25.64%(P<0.05),while there was no significant change in the control group.The obesity related knowledge,beliefs,and behaviors of the intervention group students and parents were significantly improved,and were better than those of the control group during the same period(P<0.05).Conclusion The overweight and obesity rate of primary school students in Qingpu District is relatively high,and the related risk factors are concentrated in family genetics,lifestyle,and insufficient sleep.The school family linkage model intervention can effectively reduce the obesity rate of primary school students and improve the health knowledge,attitudes,and behaviors of parents and students,which is worthy of further promotion and application.关键词
