Effect of perioperative buccal acupuncture therapy on gastrointestinal function after laparoscopic appendectomy

Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of perioperative buccal acupuncture therapy on gastrointestinal function after laparoscopic appendectomy.Methods From October 2023 to September 2025,120 patients who underwent laparoscopic appendectomy under general anesthesia at Qiannan Bouyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture People's Hospital were selected as the research objects,they were divided into the control group and the buccal acupuncture group according to random number table method,with 60 cases in each group.The control group received the conventional general anesthesia protocol,while the buccal acupuncture group received buccal acupuncture treatment on the basis of the conventional general anesthesia protocol.The postoperative 72 h intake,feeling nauseated,emesis,physical exam,duration of symptoms(I-FEED)scores,first rectal exhaust time,first defecation time,recovery time of bowel sounds,postoperative nausea and vomiting(PONV),and 15-item quality of recovery scale(QoR-15)score at 48 h after surgery,as well as the occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results The first rectal exhaust time,first defecation time,recov-ery time of bowel sounds in the buccal acupuncture group were shorter than those in the control group,postoperative 72 h I-FEED score was lower than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).The PONV in the buccal acupuncture group was lower than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).The QoR-15 score at 48 h after surgery in the buccal acupuncture group was higher than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion Perioperative buccal acupuncture thera-py can promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function af-ter laparoscopic appendectomy,shorten the first rectal exhaust time,first defecation time,and recovery time of bowel sounds,reduce PONV,and improve the postoperative recovery quality of patients.关键词
