Abstract

To solve the problems of oxygen carriers with high cost and easy deactivation in the large-scale implementation of chemical looping combustion technology,it is urgent to develop low-cost and high-performance oxygen carriers.This study used red mud or copper/iron ores as active raw materi-als to prepare oxygen carriers,and then the tests of H2 temperature-programmed reduction and lignite chemical looping combustion based on the targeted oxygen carriers were performed.The results indi-cated that the composite ores oxygen carrier obtained a higher initial reduction reaction temperature than that of pure red mud,and its containing copper ores component also promoted the reduction of i-ron ores.Moreover,the temperature ranges corresponding to different reduction reactions of CuO→Cu and Fe2O3→Fe3O4 were from 348.7℃to 394.9℃and 394.9℃to 465.9℃,respectively.When lignite was used as fuel,the combustion performance of the composite ores oxygen carriers was better than that of red mud in terms of their primary reduction stages(oxygen to fuel ratio being greater than 1.0),while the combustion results during the deep reduction stage were related to the remaining lat-tice oxygen content of oxygen carriers,and only a small amount of Fe3O4 underwent deep reduction under water vapor conditions for composite ores oxygen carrier.Additionally,the superior reducibility of composite ores was further validated through density functional theory.
