Abstract

To address the core pain points of existing folding wheelchairs,such as limitations in folding dimensions,cumbersome operation procedures,and difficulty in reconciling lightweight design with load-bearing strength,this study conducts structural innovation design and systematic verification of static mechanical properties are conducted for a vertically folding electric wheelchair.By systematically analyzing the mechanical properties of four aluminum alloys(2024,5052,6061,and 7075),6061 aluminum alloy with a yield strength of 276 MPa and a density of 2.73 g/cm³ is ultimately selected as the main frame material,achieving a balance between lightweight and structural reliability.Additionally,by analyzing the drawbacks of existing folding mechanisms,an innovative series four-bar vertical folding mechanism driven by an electric push rod is proposed,enabling one-key folding without disassembling components.The height in the unfolded state is 960 mm,which reduces to 225 mm after folding,with a compression rate of 76.6%,significantly improving the convenience of storage and transportation.SolidWorks Simulation is used to perform static finite element analysis on core components:under a 1 500 N uniform load,the seat frame exhibits a maximum stress of 5.279 MPa and a maximum displacement of 0.03 mm;the folding mechanism support rod with dimensions 38 mm×55 mm×380 mm has a maximum stress of 76.59 MPa and a maximum displacement of 1.14 mm;under a 2 000 N uniform load,the backrest frame shows a maximum stress of 0.933 MPa,a maximum displacement of 0.000 221 mm,a maximum strain of 8.723×10⁻⁶,and a weight of only 1.244 kg.The stress,displacement,and strain of all core components are far lower than the yield strength of 6061 aluminum alloy,and the strain is within the elastic range.The research indicates that this design achieves the core goals of"efficient folding,easy operation,and high reliability",provides comprehensive technical references for the structural optimization and performance upgrading of electric folding wheelchairs,and has important engineering application value for promoting technological upgrading in the industry.
