Abstract
Against the backdrop of persistently low fertility, how to explore a new type of marriage and childbearing culture that suits the local conditions during the process of modernization has become a pressing practical issue in the research on China's population transformation.Drawing on family resilience as an interpretive perspective, this article examines how families, under intensifying marriage and childbearing pressures, adjust through practice to continuously undertake responsibilities and risks, thereby providing a realistic foundation for the formation of a new culture of marriage and childbearing.By reviewing and integrating the research content, this paper defines the new type of marriage and childbearing culture as a system of meanings and practices that gradually emerges in low-fertility societies, accompanied by changes in family forms, gender relations, and structures of social support. On this basis, the article reviews the historical evolution of family resilience within marriage and fertility cultures, revealing how family resilience has taken distinct forms under different institutional arrangements and socio-historical contexts. It further analyzes the mechanisms through which family resilience shapes contemporary marriage and childbearing behaviors, focusing on three key dimensions:intimate relationship coordination, intergenerational support arrangement, and life meaning construction. From a family-centered perspective, the article systematically examines how family resilience operates at the levels of values, behaviors, and institutional perceptions to influence the formation of a new culture of marriage and childbearing, and clarifies the pathways through which this influence is realized in everyday life. The analysis shows that the new culture of marriage and childbearing is neither a simple continuation of traditional norms nor a direct substitution by highly individualized reproductive models.Rather,it represents a cultural outcome achieved by families'sustained practical adjustments under conditions of low fertility. This paper attempts to provide a theoretical explanatory framework for understanding the internal logic of China's marriage and childbearing tramsformation, providing the new analytical perspective for related theoretical discussions.关键词
