Abstract

To explore the spatio-temporal patterns of zooplankton community structure and water nutrient status in Maoli Lake,surveys were conducted on the community composition,density,biomass,and diversity of zooplankton in April,July,October 2020,and January 2021.Water quality was assessed using diversity indices.Results showed that a total of 30 genera and 43 species of zooplankton were identified,including 15 genera and 23 species of rotifers(53.49%),9 genera and 11 species of cladocerans(25.58%),and 6 genera and 9 species of copepods(20.93%).Cyclopoidea copepodite were the dominant species throughout the year.The mean annual density and biomass of zooplankton were 763.68 ind/L and 2.16 mg/L,respectively,with higher values in autumn than in other seasons.The northeastern part of the lake exhibited higher species richness,density,and biomass compared to other regions of the lake.The Shan-non-Wiener diversity index of zooplankton community varied from 2.05 to 2.57,the Pielou evenness index varied from 0.70 to 0.80,and the Margalef richness index from 1.39 to 2.34.Based on biodiversity indices,the water quality of Maoli Lake was assessed as oligotrophic to moderately polluted.This study provides a scientific basis for the ecological protection and management of Maoli Lake,and also offers a new perspective on the application of zooplankton in lake water quality assessment.
