Chinese Translation of the Morning Stiffness Assessment Scale for Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Its Reliability and Validity Test

Abstract
Objective To translate the Morning Stiffness Assessment Scale(MSAS)into Chinese and test its reliability and validity.Methods Based on Brislin's translation model,the MSAS was translated and cross-culturally adapted to develop a Chinese version.The study selected 324 rheumatoid arthritis patients who were hospitalized or treated as outpatients in the Rheumatology&Immunology Department at a Grade Ⅲ-A hospital and a Grade Ⅱ-A hospital in Yichun City from February to August 2024 to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of MSAS.Results The Chinese version of MSAS comprised 10 items.The scale demonstrated a Cronbach's α coefficient of 0.808,a test-retest reliability coefficient of 0.802,a scale-level content validity index of 0.90 and an item-level content validity index of 0.96-1.00.Conclusion The Chinese version of MSAS can serve as an effective and reliable measurement tool for evaluating morning stiffness symptoms in rheumatoid arthritis patients in China,as it exhibits good reliability and validity.关键词
