Abstract

In order to optimize the electrochemical performance of cement-based batteries,this study deeply inves-tigated the effects of conductive material types and dosage,metal active material dosage,ion-resin-modified elec-trolytes and functional layer thickness on the open-circuit voltage of the batteries.Through systematic adjustments of carbon black types,carbon fiber length and dosage,iron powder/nickel oxyhydroxide powder ratio,ion resin dosage and the thickness ratio of the three functional layers,specimens were prepared and their electrode resistance and battery open-circuit voltage were tested.The results indicate that although Cabot conductive carbon black electrode resistance exhibits higher electrode resistance,its battery open-circuit voltage outperforms that of N330 carbon black cement-based batteries;The electrode resistance of 3 mm carbon fiber electrodes is higher than that of 6 mm ones,and the corresponding battery open-circuit voltage is lower;Furthermore,although the"carbon fiber-carbon black"composite system exhibits higher resistance,it demonstrates superior open-circuit voltage.Additionally,with the increase in dosages of metal active materials and ion resin and the decrease in electrolyte layer thickness,the open-circuit voltage of the battery exhibits a non-monotonic trend of increasing first and then decreasing.These findings collectively indicate that there isn't simple linear relationship between the open-circuit voltage of cement-based batteries and the key factors,but an optimal balance among electronic conductivity,ion transport efficiency,and the structural integrity.
