Abstract

Objective To design a portable pulmonary function measurement device based on the forced oscillation technique,so as to enable the early diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)and improve patient comfort and device portability.Methods The portable pulmonary function measurement device had its housing made of acrylonitrile-butadiene styrene(ABS)engineering plastic and a STM32F103 as the main control chip,which was composed of a sensor acquisition module,an oscillation module and a power supply module.The sensor acquisition module consisted of two SM7391 digital differential pressure sensors;the oscillation module primarily comprised a waveform generation unit,a signal rectification circuit and a power amplification circuit,with a speaker serving as the core executive component;the power supply module was powered by a 24 V DC power adapter and incorporated a power management circuit centered around the TPS54560 chip.The software of the device was divided into a lower embedded system component and a host-based application component.The lower embedded system was programmed using the C programming language under the Keil μVision development environment,and the host-based application component was developed using the App Designer module on the MATLAB platform.To verify the accuracy of the device's pulmonary function measurements,it underwent comparison with a standard commercial clinical spirometer and analysis by Bland-Altman plots and linear regression.Results Bland-Altman and linear regression analyses indicated that the core respiratory impedance parameters measured by this device showed a high degree of agreement with those from the clinical spirometer,thereby meeting clinical requirements for accuracy in airway impedance assessment.Conclusion The pulmonary function measurement device based on the forced oscillation technique accurately measures pulmonary function parameters such as respiratory resistance,reactance,resonance frequency and reactance area,providing reliable technical support for the early diagnosis and dynamic monitoring of respiratory diseases.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2026,47(5):21-28]
