Generator Failure Dependent Adaptive Event-triggered Load Frequency Control in Interconnected Power Systems

Abstract
Intermittent generator failures caused by such as equipment aging and poor contact may threaten the frequency stability of power systems.In this paper,an adaptive event-triggered load frequency control(LFC)scheme is proposed.First,considering that the consequence of a generator failure is that the active generation cannot reach the expected level,a series of operating scenarios are preset according to the degrees of failure.Then,this paper esablishes an adaptive event-triggered detector(ETD)is to upload the statuses and update the control parameters only when generator failure occurs or the LFC performance degrades below a preset threshold.Furthermore,considering that the synchronously matching between the control parameters and actual operation scenarios cannot be achieved due to the communication delays between ETD and control center,the LFC system under intermittent generator failures is described as an asynchronous switched model.Finally,based on the average dwell time technique,the control parameter design constraints and updating criteria have been deduced.Simulation results have shown that compared with traditional event-triggered schemes,the proposed method can improve the damping performance of area control errors by more than 15.16%.关键词
