摘要

Abstract

This trial aimed to determine the effects of Bupleurum leaf extract on growth traits,intestinal morphology and meat quality of broiler chicks.240 one-day-old chicks were randomly assigned to 4 groups,with 6 replicates of 10 chicks each group.The control group received a basal diet,while the three experimental groups were given the basal diet supplemented with Bupleurum leaf extract at 200,400,and 600 mg/kg,respectively.The trial lasted for 21 days,and the results indicated that:1)Compared with the control group,dietary supplementation with 400 and 600 mg/kg Bupleurum leaf extract significantly improved average daily gain(ADG)by 3.99%and 8.43%(P<0.05);adding 600 mg/kg of the extract markedly reduced the feed-to-gain ratio(F/G)by 5.19%(P<0.05).2)Supplementation of 200,400,600 mg/kg Bupleurum leaf extract significantly increased villus height(VH)and VH/CD ratio in the duodenum,jejunum and ileum(P<0.05),and 400,600 mg/kg doses obviously decreased duodenal crypt depth(CD)(P<0.05).3)All three doses of Bupleurum leaf extract significantly elevated the a* value of breast muscle,and reduced drip loss of breast and leg muscles(P<0.05).In summary,Bupleurum leaf extract can effectively promote growth,optimize intestinal health and enhance meat quality of chicks,and 600 mg/kg is the best supplemental level.
