Integrative forest management for synergistic improvement of multiple ecosystem services and biodiversity

Abstract
Integrative forest management(IFM)systematically incorporates biodiversity conservation and adaptation to global change into forest management activities to achieve the sustainable provision of multiple ecosystem services.Currently,IFM remains relatively underdeveloped in terms of theoretical framework construction,evaluation standard formulation,and practical application.A multi-stakeholder participation mechanism has yet to be established.There is an urgent need for enhanced collaboration between China and Europe to jointly advance the development of an IFM framework adapted to the needs of economically sustainable development.This project systematically investigates the natural and anthropogenic influencing factors and their processes,the trade-offs and synergies between multiple ecosystem services and biodiversity,the management techniques for synergistically enhancing ecosystem functions,and the development of a China-Europe collaborative platform and decision support tools for integrative forest ecosystem management.It also explores methodologies for the economic valuation of forest ecosystem services and biodiversity.The project aims to improve the theoretical framework and comprehensive evaluation methods of IFM,deepen the scientific understanding of forest protection,management,and sustainable utilization,expand multi-stakeholder participation mechanisms,promote interdisciplinary knowledge integration and policy translation,and establish a China-Europe research network and demonstration model for integrative forest ecosystem management.This will provide theoretical guidance and practical references for forest management and green development in different biogeographic regions of China.关键词
